The Fourth of July fireworks have finished popping but the Fourth of July sales haven’t. Our wrenching friends at The Drive put together a roundup of deals from Ace Hardware, Amazon, and Lowe’s. And since the advent of electric implements has made handymen as loyal to their tools as pickup truck buyers are to their beasts, what’s great about this list is variety.
Mellow yellow DeWalt fans might consider the 20V, half-inch and 3/8 impact combo with one battery for $299, the 20V half-inch keyless and brushless drill for $99, or the 4.5-gallon, 225 psi air compressor for $339.
Big red Milwaukee types might have a look at the two-tool combo of half-inch drill/driver and quarter-inch hex impact driver, two batteries and a charger, and a carry case. All part of Milwaukee’s M18 system, this deal can be had for $189 if you join or are a member of Ace Hardware’s rewards program. Equivalent tools in Milwaukee’s M12 system only run $99 (put them in the cart to see the sale price).
Across the street in its rebranded red house, a lump of six Craftsman 20V tools is asking just $199: half-inch drill/driver; quarter-inch impact driver; reciprocating saw; 5-3/8-inch circular saw; oscillating tool; and task light. The bundle comes with two batteries, a charger, a carry bag, blades for the saws, double-sided bits, a sanding platen, and sandpaper.
Even those who live up on the hill in gated tool communities get served, the Bosch 18V impact driver and drill/driver on the list, with two batteries, for $159.
And then there’s every fixer’s dont-leave-home-without-it tool, the 14-gallon wet-dry Shop-Vac for $111.
Home Depot’s got big sales of its own despite not getting a look-in on The Drive’s list. Milwaukee’s M18 18V eight-tool combo runs $599 instead of $1,099. A DeWalt 20V six-tool bundle is down to $499 from $799. And if you’re courageous enough to use Ryobi without joining a support group, a six-tool set of the lime green 18V starter tools can be yours for a mere $199.
The Depot’s got a Ridgid 12-gallon wet-dry vac for only $79 too.
Whatever you didn’t blow on M-80s and Roman candles, it’s time to blow on tools. For your independence.
