Apparently it was too hard to find a can of bug spray.

Emergency services responded to a car on fire in Townsville after a man reportedly tried to set a spider alight.

7News Townsville reports the Nissan Pathfinder was burnt to a crisp, with video showing firefighters and police assessing the smouldering wreckage.

Audio from emergency services describing the scene is played over the footage.

“Set the car on fire, trying to kill a spider…I have no further details, over,” the emergency services worker can be heard saying.

It’s unclear if the 57-year-old driver was injured during the fire or if he was able to successfully kill the spider.
