Sinkhole forms in front of KLIA’s Bunga Raya Complex – road still open to vehicles, investigation ongoing

The works ministry (KKR) has reported a sinkhole estimated to be over five metres wide and a metre deep appearing near KLIA’s Bunga Raya Complex.

In a statement, the ministry said the sinkhole formed at the area between the entrance and exit of the Bunga Raya Complex, which is used by VIP guests and dignitaries when they fly off or arrive at the airport.

For now, the road remains accessible to all vehicles and a traffic management plan has been implemented at the site of the incident. According to the ministry, Malaysia Airports Holdings (MAHB) is currently investigating a sewage pipe which is suspected to be leaking and the cause of the sinkhole.
