The BYD Sealion 7 will launch in Malaysia next Thursday, November 14, and the public can get up close and personal with the Tesla Model Y fighter at The Exchange 106 over the November 15-17 weekend. You can register for the public event here, where test drives will also be available from 10am-6pm. Bookings for the BYD Sealion 7 have been open since November 6 – you can book online here.
Among the key features mentioned in the public event registration portal are a max power of 390 kW (that’s 530 PS), a 4.5-second century sprint time and a 542 km NEDC range. These point towards the two-motor AWD variant, which also has 690 Nm of total torque.
In Hong Kong, the AWD variant gets a 82.56 kWh battery which can accept up to 150 kW DC and 11 kW AC charging, while Europe gets a 91.3 kWh battery that can support up to 230 kW DC charging.
We wonder which battery capacity we’ll get, as well as if we’ll also get the one-motor RWD variant seen in Hong Kong, which has 313 PS and 380 Nm of torque, does 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and has a 82.56 kWh battery that yields a 567 km NEDC range.
As the Seal battles the Model 3, so the Sealion 7 will the Model Y. The BYD SUV is 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall and has a 2,930 mm wheelbase. The Seal sedan goes for RM164k-200k, so how much do you expect the Sealion 7 to retail at?
