Subaru unveiled the 2024 Crosstrek at the 2023 Chicago Auto Show. This compact SUV will enter its third design generation with revised styling and updated features.
Crosstrek debuted for the 2012 model year as the brand’s smallest SUV. It was an instant hit with both brand loyalists and newcomers, becoming its best-selling vehicle. Since launch, it has sold more than one million total units.

The 2024 edition uses the latest iteration of Subaru’s Global Platform. The company claims 10 percent greater overall structural rigidity, which should lead to a smoother ride and quieter interior.
The exterior follows the brand’s current design language that you’ll find on larger models like the Legacy sedan and Outback wagon. It adopts a frameless hexagonal grille and narrow headlights. Contrasting black body cladding gives the vehicle a more aggressive look that complements its off-road capability.
Underpinnings its off-pavement chops is 8.7 inches of ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). Base and Premium trims will use a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. The uplevel Sport and Limited grades get upgraded to a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. The sole transmission is a continuously variable automatic with Premium, Sport, and Limited receiving steering-wheel paddles to simulate manual gear changes.
Standard safety kit includes Subaru’s EyeSight cameras that are designed to operate more quickly and with a wider field of view. Automatic emergency braking, blind-spot alert with rear cross-traffic detection, and lane-change assist are also available.
Dual-zone climate control is standard across the board. The base infotainment system include a pair of 7-inch touchscreens. For the first time, Subaru is offering Crosstrek with its Starlink Multimedia Plus system, which includes a single 11.6-inch screen laid out in a portrait orientation. A built-in navigation system along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available.
Pricing for the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek starts at $24,995 plus destination fee, which is unchanged from the outgoing model. Base and Premium models will be built at the brand’s Japanese plant and are slated to arrive at dealers this spring. The Sport and Limited arrive in the summer and will be made at Subaru’s US manufacturing facility in Lafayette, Indiana.
Subaru seemingly didn’t change a whole lot with the 2024 Crosstrek, but they really didn’t have to. The new model looks like it will continue to be a solid blend of style and capability at a very attractive price. It should have no trouble maintaining its status as the brand’s top-selling vehicle.
