The Honda HR-V e:HEV hybrid has gotten more affordable.
The updated HR-V lineup, which launches on October 1, has grown to include a new e:HEV X variant.
It’s priced at $39,900 drive-away, $3000 less than the e:HEV L.
Promotional pricing for the base, petrol-powered Vi X has also been made permanent, with Honda’s small SUV range still opening at $34,900 drive-away.
The updated e:HEV L is even cheaper – by $1000 – than the runout pricing that was being offered.

The updated HR-V wears a refreshed grille with a more squared-off look, while down back there’s a revised full-width, fully LED lighting assembly.
Hybrid models also get adaptive LED headlights.
Inside, there’s a revised centre console, with an extended upper tray that can house a large smartphone. There are also both USB-A and USB-C outlets up front.
Honda says the cabin is quieter thanks to the addition of more soundproofing.
Under the skin, Honda has revised the power steering for greater high-speed stability and “more predictable” steering feel, while e:HEV models have revised suspension tuning “for even greater levels of ride control and compliance”.
Hybrid models also have refined Power Control Unit (PCU) software, which Honda says allows for smoother transitions between electric and hybrid modes and greater EV throttle response.
Honda also says it has improved refinement by tweaking the PCU software to stop sudden rises in RPM from the petrol engine in hybrid mode.
The suite of safety technology has grown to include Traffic Jam Assist and low-speed braking control.

Servicing and Warranty
The Honda HR-V is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assist, and is offered with five years of capped-price servicing.
Honda hasn’t announced any changes to service pricing, which suggests each service will continue to be capped at $199. Servicing is required every 12 months or 10,000km, whichever comes first.
Safety
The Honda HR-V has a four-star safety rating from ANCAP, based on testing conducted in 2022.
It received an adult occupant protection rating of 82 per cent, a child occupant protection rating of 77 per cent, a vulnerable road user protection rating of 72 per cent, and a safety assist rating of 69 per cent.
Honda hasn’t detailed which safety features will be standard on which model.
Safety equipment includes:

- Pedestrian and bicycle front cross-traffic collision (NEW)
- Lane-keep assist
- Adaptive cruise control

The pre-update model was also offered with the following:

Honda hasn’t released a full list of equipment for the updated HR-V range. We’ll update this article when this information is available.
Colours
Slate Grey Pearl and Botanical Green finishes are new, with the latter exclusive to hybrid models.
Carryover finishes comprise Platinum White Pearl, Premium Crystal Red Metallic, and Premium Opal White Silver Pearl. The latter is also exclusive to hybrid models.
